Haha, also dont bother exchanging dollars for colones, most people will take your dollars and give you change back in colones.

But if it’s like anywhere else, the exchange rate they use to translate your dollars to local currency is likely not so good, yeah?

Totally. I went with a group called Costa Rica Surf Adventures and signed up for their "intermediate surf coaching" They picked us up from the airport in their Land Rover Defender which became the truck that took us everywhere which was great. The thing was bullet proof and clean and nice. From there they took us to the hotel that was arranged through them and the hotel was great. Was directly on the beach with an outside bar and pool and restaurant. Very clean. No complaints whatsoever. With the package we got 2 activities to do while we werent surfing and I chose ATV's through the country and ziplining. Both were very enjoyable and still got me back in time to surf the afternoon sessions. As with surfing, I used their quiver which had a 6'5 surftech TL2 standard HPSB. (It's labeled as a 6'8 but standing next to it, Im 6'2, and there was no way it was 6 inches over me.) Was a great board, they also had an array of longboards and a few shorter shortboards. Basically all I brought with me was my boardshorts and a rashguard. We surfed twice a day. Mornings they pick you up at 6 and then go again at 330pm. They took us to a variety of different breaks (not ollies or witches, which you can do if you sign up for the advanced group) and all the breaks were great. I also purchased a photo package and got a ton of pics that were all high quality. It was a great time and I have zero complaints about the company I chose to go with. They are all amazing surfers (one guide was punting 360s constantly) and totally chill dudes that will go out of their way to make your stay and surf better.
