My parents were the same way with Hawai'i. They discovered the Big Island back in the late 80's and they never vacation anywhere else.

Ok so maybe we had a few too many last night so Rosa is too hung over to surf so we are doing laundry. There's some swell too but I'm not too bummed cos everyone and their mother is out there it looks like. So I'm sitting here in the laundry room lolol.
So I figure I'll share the bad vibe from yesterday's mild altercation with a local. Bitter old motherfucker started giving me shit. "You go right on dis wave!" Dumb fuck. I guess he never heard of fading before. On these San O type peaky waves, if you're not taking off at the peak, you gotta fade into it and cut back into the wave otherwise you're in the flats. So twice I fade into Mr. Sunshine at one point almost grabbing is board cos he took so damn long to get up. The second time he started mouthing off.
Ok so I figure I'll be the better man and paddle over and apologize for what I dont know. Shit for brain goes on telling me you go right you go right!! Holy shit I wanted to smash my trailing fin into this dimwit's skull. Instead I just told him sternly that "THERE'LL BE MORE!!" and paddle off. What a douche. Turned out the rest of the lineup were his buddies including one massive Samoan motherfucker they fondly referred to as "Fatty" lolololol!!
Anyway sorry for the rant. Just needed to get that out there lol.
Been awesome here otherwise with much better more consistent waves than last time. For the most part the locals here are pretty chill. But I'll tell ya, the economy here is hurting bad. There's noticeably fewer tourists in particular what should be throngs of Japanese filling up the tour busses. Maybe that's what's causing all the negative vibe who knows.

P.S. Aside from the bitter old man in dire need of a blow job, the rest of the locals we have run into here have been awesome. Too many to count ... from SurfCo Hawaii owner to surfers in the lineup to the street kids even lolol. Much Aloha.

It's just got a totally different vibe than that of the other islands. There's no rush ever to do anything and the locals are all really cool. It's my favorite place in the world :)
