add a center lokbox plug to my twin fin? recommendations?

FYI - This board's dims are for the bigger rider around 200lbs. My 150lbs couldn't get it to go the way I wanted it to but my 200lb friends could. Your mileage and experience may differ.

i have this roundtail twin fin that i want to add a center lokbox fin plug to give it more drive. the board works great as is when those rare headhigh+ fast & steep barreling swells roll in. but in the more common lesser conditions my board bogs horribly. everyone who has observed me boggin says i should just have someone put in a center fin box and slap in a smallish center fin and prob will be solved. i do love the cut & slash maneuverability of this board but hate the boggin. so i'm willing to try this center fin but....

- have any of you done this and did it noticeably improve the drive & speed?
- if i were to do this, who would you recommend to do the surgery in huntington beach or within driving distance of HB?
- is this an expensive proposition or how much cabbage am i to throw at this?
- is there anyone on here that i can hire to do this?

btw - my board is a bullock twin in poly. dims are 6'2 x 21-7/8 x 2-3/4. my regular spots are hb cliffs, hb pier, bolsa and the newport jetties. <-- should say these are the places where i normally pull this board out to ride when those rare quality swells roll in.

thx!

The only thing I'd be concerned about is the fin placement and how a new fin would work with the existing fins. Interesting idea though, I think it'd be worth it just to see how it performs. You can always take the third fin out if you don't like it.

Bill (Solsurf) did the fins on my fish when I ripped both of them out and they came out great. It rides just like it never got crunched.

solsurf, i just wanna keep the finboxes consistent since the twin boxes are lokboxes. could you do it with a lokbox plug?

ghost, yah i wanna try it out cuz i am hoping to use this experience to decide how my custom board should be made. i just hv so much confidence in this board that i want a custom that mimicks and improves upon this board.

thx for the input folks!

I can Under stand keeping all box's the same .
I forgot to tell you before you do any thing make sure you have the thickness in the tail whare you want to install a loxbox...
I have removed severll fcs plugs and replaces them also did ghost fish when he crushed the future boxs into the foam but there were cut out and replace..
I am sure the loxbox will work but you will have to eyeball the placement of the new one not to far back or to far foward ....
some thing like that would run some place around $50.00 or a little more depending how hard it be to cut foam out for new one ect.. and work will show around the plate do to q cell also sanding loss of the clear .
Have you tryed difernt size fins ? i got k 2 fins now on my 6'8'' midget smith fish that work well when i do ride it as i perfer to ride my 9'0'' now days as my short board days were long ago...
should talk to tim who took over shaping for midget smith hes a awsome shaper with skill in the water and on the foam....
check out there web sight midget smith surfboards

talked to my shaper last night and he dont think a third fin will work as there is no room in the tail to put a box in also fins are to close to tail as is .
good thought though try bigher fins

i have tried bigger fins. more depth, more base, etc. oh well. i just want to ride this board more cuz it gets the most vertical and makes me look like i got some power moves in my repertoire. the wave conditions where this board excels for me just occur too rarely. im just greeeeeeedy.
