San Diego to Santa Barbara

Okay so who do we have to talk to?

Dec 23 08, 2:00 am

To get some swell around here! I'm going out of my mind! ;[ It would be nice to be able to score some actual waves sometimes soon but mother nature is just depriving us and I'm getting antsy!

Do we need to a swell dance with some sort of surfboard/wetsuit sacrifice or what?
At least my mini-mal is in repair with Molly in HB so I can't miss anything worth going out for.

Considering how odd the weather patterns have been becoming over the past few years this isn't really surprising to me. Eventually it had to effect the surf. Sure does suck pretty bad though. Have to work a 12er today and then I am flying to SF tomorrow for Christmas so I won't be able to surf till next Sunday.

Very odd indeed ... I remember when we used to have the “holiday swell.” Without fail, if it was a holiday, there was swell. Be it Thanksgiving, Christmas, Kwanza, Festivus, whatever. There was swell. This year? Thanksgiving? Nada. Christmas? Bupkis.

What’s worse right now though is that there’s not only no waves, it’s been friggin raining all the friggin time. I’d be happy with tiny little smurf waves so long as it wasn’t raining.

Not to mention that summer time used to be a little more consistant as well. The SPAC storms the past few summers have been less then stellar to say the least. While we have had a few stand swells that have come in I remember 10 years ago how often swells would be hitting our shores. I don't remember ever getting skunked for weeks on end. But, the only constant in life is change, everything else is fleeting at best so....just like in surfing, get the waves while there are waves to be had because you never know.

Yeah being this is my first season of surfing I don't really have any past knowledge. But growing up here in socal this is the first time I can remember its supposed to rain on Christmas in years.

Yay for global climate change! I just wish we had some waves over the Christmas break.

haha :D Yeah, I agree with you guys.. our winterland of fun surf hasn't been as great as previous years.. Hopefully something kicks up soon.

I do know one thing though, when it does.. everyone is going to be foaming at the mouth to get out there and stay there as long as they can. haha.
