First stingray hit

Sep 18 11, 11:50 pm

So I got hit by a stingray for the first time. Was surfing blacks with some buddies and knew what happened as soon as it happened. Paddled back to the beach n called the life guard over who gave me hot water n then had to get my buddies to carry me up the cliff (foot was sooo painful couldnt really stand on it) and then drove to drop them off at their car at the Trestles parking lot n tried to make it back to LA but had to stop in OC as my whole leg had gone into convulsions and was in so much pain that I was shaking and not thinking straight. Stopped at a hardware store and my buddy who was still in the car got a bucket n we stopped at Dennys to get hot water. Limped it back to LA and now just chillin with my foot in hot water. Getting better but swollen as hell. Lame.

how bad? were you wearing booties? i'm scared of them! always tell my boy to jump on his board and start paddling immediately. my neighbor got stung on the same foot twice within a week. left a nasty scar hole that you can put a number 2 pencil's eraser through.

take care

Yes, getting less and less of the radiating pain though. Between skating and surfing, it's just a bad place for a wound too.

Took about 3 days for all of the swelling to go down and I was able to comfortably walk again.

They are definitely more prevalent in So Cal with the warmer water. Funny, I haven't seen jellyfish in the water for a while though...?

I think so.. they like sandy bottoms, big crowds, and warmer water.. :|

.. and they probably get scared away from NorCal by all the Great Whites.. :I: ;] :D haha

So 8 days later, the swelling is 98% gone, no pain, just a little achey and sore, but it itches like no tomorrow!!!! Is this normal???
