Surfline - Water Conditions Delete

You might have noticed Surfline's new streamlined look ... also that there are no longer water conditions / warnings posted. I shot em an email and this is their response:

Thanks for the feedback!

We have temporarily discontinued the Water Safety colored flags because they seemed to arouse more confusion then good information. As we know, water safety is often related to the size of the swell hitting the area, as well as currents, rips, and other local issues. Considering Surfline updates conditions on nearly 2,000 surf spots a day it became unpractical for us to do a good job in displaying these Water Safety conditions for all of these spots. We will be looking into developing an automatic safety alerting system in the near future. We will continue to post water quality issues in the local surf reports once we are notified or learn of these problems. If you happen to know of a problem that we are not posting, please feel free to let us know right away. Thanks for your great support!

Good discussion on alternative sources for water quality info here.

I actually noticed the same thing. Sort of tripped me up at first.
Hopefully they'll put in something better with more specific information, but at least with the old system it told people to stay out after rain.

I really prefer the old surfline layout :-/

Well, I guess it looks really slick and modern. Maybe I was just too used to the old one.
I always hate it when websites I frequent change the layout :-/
