Tips on drying out gloves/booties

Jun 17 12, 5:38 pm

As my first winter surf season approaches, I was wondering if anyone had any good tips on how to dry out their gloves and booties so that they a) aren't wet for the next session and b) don't start to stink like ass

Any tips would be appreciated :|

Being an electrician, I usually have some PVC pipe lying around. (A less solid or sweaty material would probably be better)
I just stand up a 2-4 foot scrap of 1 inch diameter and fit it over. That allows it to drain while keeping it open. I stick a 45 or 90 degree electrical sweep on for booties. (Also good for wet pack liners.)

damn, winter's approaching already? I just hung up my wetsuit for the summer!

I always rinse mine with fresh water, and once a month or so, I'll throw it into the washing machine on cold.

Whoa Nelly!! I would NOT toss a wetsuit into the washing machine even on cold super gentle cycle.

Just get a bottle of McNett wetsuit shampoo, toss a bit into a bucket of water, and throw your wetsuit in there. Rinse, dry, and put away.

After rinsing them with fresh water I hang my booties from a hanger upside down for a day then turn them inside out and hang them back up. They dry completly and it seems to take care of the funk.

I've done it for the last two years and have never seen any sort of degradation of the wetsuit outside of just normal wear & tear.

Neoprene is tough stuff. It certainly takes more abuse from the surfing/saltwater than 15 minutes in a washing machine ever could.
