Wax on Wetsuit/Rash Guard & Board Shorts

Ok, maybe it's just me, but it seems as though I tend to get a lot of wax all over my wetsuit or rash guard and board shorts when I surf. Is there a way to keep the wax off me and on the board? Maybe I'm putting too much on my board? Or, is there a way to get the wax off after I get out of the water? Is there a trick to it?

Well how much is a lot? Do you find that you've got bald spots on your board where your butt cheeks sit? If so, are you using base coat wax? Without base coat wax, regular wax has a tendency to come off easier. Otherwise, wax transfer is generally normal. All my suits have white butts.

I have a base coat. Each time I surf I put an extra coat of regular wax on and usually use the comb to get a little more traction. No bald spots. I just find that my wetsuit gets white on the stomach, thighs, and butt. Sometimes even the under arms, I guess from paddling. I guess it's just normal then?

Yeah that's just normal. Just make sure you are using appropriate wax for the temperature. If you're using wax meant for sub-50 degree temps in 60+ degree water (i.e., softer wax), it will come off easier.

I also wouldn't try too hard cleaning that wax off with any sort of solvents. You might end up damaging your wetsuit.

I'm using cool at the moment. I think the water temp is still around there. Though I might need to change to cold soon. Ugh. Cold water.

Haven't even thought to try to get the wax off my suit. LOL. I figure you can only see it when the suit is dry, so it can't be that bad, right?

Well, you can only see your butt when the suit is dry because that's when you have it off. Unless of course you carry around a mirror or are a contortionist, might be hard to check butt wax while the suit is on haha.

Well, I do carry a mirror around and constantly am checking out my own ass, so I notice these things...LOL...j/k...though I do carry a mirror around...

Well we could always mount a mirror to your board so you can se you azz while on the board therfore you won't have to carry one with you. I personaly try to keep any mirror away from my azz for if I see it I'll get

My advice: Make sure you change your wax so its not too soft (it should not be too hard either but that would not cause it to come off the board and onto your wetsuit/board shorts. I always wet the board (with cold ocean water of course) before I add more wax and do not put more on unless I need it. Hope I helped.

I bet you get it on you mostly after you use a comb. Just exces or lose wax from the comb.
